Consolidating Multiple Translated Courses into One Using the New Multi-Language Feature

Hello all!

 

My team is taking a look at converting our existing translated content into one course using the new multi-language feature in Docebo. 

 

We have started discussing plans for migration but wanted to pop a thought out to the community for considerations we may not be making in terms on enrollments, completions and so on. 

 

Currently, we have separate course shells for each language with enrollments being identical groups (All Company). Then, we have mutual equivalencies set up across each course shell so that if a learning takes a course in one language, then get credit for all languages. 

 

Has any one else had previously translated content and then migrated to one course shell with this new feature? What were your pain points? What are some things to be on the lookout for?

Accessing the language specific content works well but what is missing is you cannot localize your title or descriptions. This has been a blocker for us as not everyone is OK with bilingual titles and descriptions, etc. + if you have more than 2 languages, not sure you can use that format anyway.

This has been a hold up for us as well. Thankfully, it seems that is set to change: 

Once this update is released, we’ll also need to assess how best to deploy it (likely either creating new multi-language course shells or adding all the translations to the English course and phasing out the others). Would be interesting to hear how others have or are planning to manage this.

Personally, I believe we will be utilizing the original english course shells as much of our notification infrastructure is web-hook based and rolling enrollments/completions into new course shells while considering onboarding sounds nightmarish. We will run completion reports and compare enrollments/completions to the “OG” english course shell.
