Way to determine where a group is used?

Curious if anyone knows a way to determine where in the platform a group (or Branch for that matter) is used? We heavily use groups with menus, catalogs, reports and channels but when we try to clean up our groups, it can be almost impossible to figure out where the group is being used to know if it’s ok to delete (without manually going through each of the places above to determine).

Not expecting there to be a solution for this, but thought I would pick the collective Docebo support community brains!

Thanks!

I dont think there is any way to get to that. We use the Group name and description to add information about the nature of the group and include all or most of the criteria in the those fields so they are searchable by som keywords, tags, etc.

Thanks for the thoughts here. We have implemented that in our system as well to, in the description, say where it is used, unfortunately I’ve had quite a few admins over the years create groups and omit this information.

I’m following this one… we are in the same boat.  We also just deactivated a large collection of branches recently and we’d like to track down any and all groups that were created by those users or used in some way for those branches.  I love that newly created groups now have an owner associated with them but the old ones we do not have any way to tell who created them (we ask that Power Users name their groups in a way that helps distinguish which branches it is for, but most do not).

Agreed the new Owner field is REALLY HELPFUL with groups, would’ve been nice if the system could’ve automatically filled it out based on the sort of audit trail history of who created the group, but we’re in the same boat for most of our groups this field is empty for the time being… we’ll probably do a clean up activity to assign owners to all the groups at some point… *goes to add it to my long list of ongoing clean up & maintenance activities needed to be complete in our platform. haha
