Design inspiration: Creative ways of using your platform
Hey Everyone!
I have huge ideas for what I’d like to do with our platform, but I’m always interested in seeing the creative and unique ways others are using theirs. I’d love to hear AND see cools ways you have designed, unique ideas of utilizing your channels and pages.
One of the most helpful tools that we have used is a google calendar integrated on a separate page, that allows people to register for GoTo Training Sessions. This was a work around after the platform stopped supporting GoTo. I know this isn’t super creative or unique, but it has been a great help!
I’d love to hear your unique platform ideas and uses!

@rheaton did you do any custom CSS to have only one row of courses with that pagination?
@pjosifovic you can get that single row of courses with pagination two ways: 1. if you are displaying more than one catalog in the catalog widget on a page 2. When displaying a single catalog in a catalog widget, you set the display to “Default”
We also use Comslider just like @Salvo (actually he recommended it to us a while ago, so thanks for that! We use it for our news section.
Aside from that, I like to think that we have a pretty clean menu
@abartunek i see this post is 2 years old but any chance you would be willing to share the code used to get the 6 boxes on screen? That is exactly what I am looking to accomplish. Looks very clean and simple.
Thanks

@D.Oostergo - The base code was posted in another community discussion around the same time. Unfortunately, whatever accompanying CSS that formatted it into the neat, contained boxes wasn’t included and I haven’t run across it. The code pastes in large and vertical instead of horizontal with what I found. The HTML code is about halfway down this post.
The thing I have learned is “Keep it Simple” I have spent hours redesigning pages, and I was so proud of them, but the number one complaint I would get is there too much info on the page or “I never click on that”. So I’ve customized landing pages for Supervisors/Non-Supervisors and included just the info they “need” then everything else goes into my menus.
Supervisor View:
Non-Supervisor View:
I won’t claim either of these layouts are creative, but they are super functional!
I love your design for Supervisors! I am currently tasked with building something very similar for our Facilitators (Instructors) and have a question for you, what widget type did you use for the My Team and Current Assignments links? Where do these links go? And what widget type did you use for “Overdue Course List”? Thank you! I know I am replying three years later!
Here is my homepage we kept a simple design.
It’s crazy what you have done here! love the details...like the photo continuing across the tiles of “my courses, virtual classroom...” If you have time, I have two questions: 1. What is the widget that serves as a menu across the very top (my courses, course catalog, channels...)? 2. How did you do “Book your classroom below” with a classes available and not enrolled in?

@goldengirl - Not sure if the original poster will get back to your inquiries, but I think I know most of the answers. You’ll want to be careful with what widgets/expectations you have for them in designing a page for Instructors because “My Team” as the built-in page relies on the Manager/Supervisor functionality to be put in place. They aren’t going to be seeing people enrolled in their courses on that page, to my understanding.
The widget used for the My Team and the Current Assignment boxes is the simple “Custom Content Box” widget (which I love) with custom editing to display an image instead of a solid color for the background, and branded colors for the text. The links should go to the basic My Team and My Courses and Learning Plans built-in pages, which should be relatively universal links.
The Overdue Course List is the Task List widget, but the Overdue Courses option is only available for SuperAdmins and Power Users. My guess is that they made their supervisors Power Users and created groups for them with their employees to show the overdue items. The Task List widget may also work in your use case for some other items because it’s one of (or the only) widget to have specific functions for Instructors.

@RBarrett - The original post was 3 years ago, so I’m not sure if they’ll get back to you on the questions, but I do know for sure that the menu across the top is not a built-in available widget. It is definitely custom CSS/HTML that has been applied to the system. If you have someone coding-savvy they might be able to build something similar but it’s not something you can achieve with what Docebo provides “out of the box.”

Thank you, I did find some earlier comments and details. Very nicely done.
