How to manage Power User training? Any resources/templates you recommend or can share?

Hi all!

Would love to know how you train your new Power Users to use Docebo.

I’m currently creating a Rise 360 course that will be required to complete before a user is up-leveled to Power User permissions.

Here’s the course outline so far:

-Docebo terminology (inspired by this post)

-How to navigate the Power User menu

-How to enroll users in courses & learning plans

-How to pull reporting

There will be a test they will have to take after the SCORM course, too.

I know Power User permissions are highly customizable and we probably all have PU profiles configured differently. Would love to hear from you all about how you train your Power Users. Anything you learned along the way? Any feedback on the course outline?

Looking forward to the discussion!

Hey @bethany-convoy! Thanks for starting this thread.

I’d love to see what others recommend here as well. My team often gets asked about creating training specifically for Power Users, but as you pointed out, this can be very difficult since PU permissions vary so widely from one organization to another.

love that you’re using the Docebo Terminology guide to help train your PUs. Is there any other content in Docebo Community that you’ve found useful to share with your Power Users? If so, I’d love to know what it is. I have one tip to share with you, take it or leave it:

Use a channel to link to product area catalogs in Docebo University

We try to make it easy for you to find content related to different areas of the Docebo Learn product by splitting them into different catalogs in Docebo University.

You could create a channel in your own platform that you make visible to all Power Users (on a Power User training page, for example). You could then create individual Link assets that link to each of the product area catalogs in Docebo University so that your Power Users can easily access the training content. This content could complement what you’re creating in your own course. Here are the links to each of those catalogs for your reference:

You could do the same thing with our knowledge base, by linking to specific collections of articles in Docebo Help.

If you aren’t using Discover Coach & Share, you could always take the same approach using custom content boxes on a Power User training page.

I hope this helps! I can’t wait to see what you put together for your Power Users. Please share in this thread as you make progress!

Did this post help you find an answer to your question?

We made a little Power User guide and do monthly webinars, but I love your idea and will probably borrow from your outline some. One of my goals this year is to develop a “Power User certification” - really just a training package with bragging rights. It will be delivered in Docebo, of course with the materials and quiz.

@Adam Ballhaussen thank you for these suggestions, I hadn’t thought about using channels or linking to Docebo University!

Question - Would Docebo be open to copying the Rise 360 content from Docebo U and sharing with customers (on request?) I ask because the lessons in Docebo U are a great starting place, and it would be great if we could customize some of the screenshots and media in the lessons to fit our organization.

At my last organization, they had scheduled webinars that were recorded and did walk throughs that were personalized for the power user (our power users were all external clients).

In addition, they wanted to be able to provide easy access to job aides and how to videos, but they didn’t want to have the power user go through the whole course enrollment process, and often times the power users would not consume training, so it wasn’t necessary to have them consume an active user license. So we put all of our training and documentation into a Rise course and called it our “Help Center”.  These Rise SCORMs were then hosted on a web server and we created a page that was iframing these SCORMs into Docebo.

This made it easy to link our help centers to both the page and user menus, and the power users could always access the help centers that related to their power user permissions.

Our Power Users are directed to Docebo University for training and then they must pass a test in our system (we call it the GS1 e-Academy) to be granted Power User rights. We provide a document with a list of courses for them to take to help them learn about what they are going to be doing in our system and going to be tested on. 😀

We would love to be able to create a Learning Plan in Docebo University for our users so it’s easier for us and them...but no luck at this time.  If any Docebo peeps know of a way for us to get a LP, we would appreciate it.

I also love the idea of Docebo sharing their course(s) with us to put in our system and/or to modify for our needs, but I get why they don’t...but, again, if that changes - let’s talk.

Here are some ways we support these up and coming Power Users on their learning journey:

  • As these users are going through training, we give them PU rights in our sandbox so they can “do” things as they are learning as well.
  • We also add them to a team in MS Teams, so we have been building our own community for Power Users - so we can share learnings as a community as well.
  • We have regularly scheduled meetings to discuss what’s coming in the system as well as address any questions anyone might have.

As Power Users have additional questions or need additional help, I work with them as needed as well and then share any findings with all Power Users if applicable...sometimes suggesting new courses and/or knowledgebase articles, etc.

Hope this helps!
