Question

Delete Certificates completely from Users' personal summary record

In our department, we often encounter situations where we need to remove a certificate from a learner's training record. It's a straightforward task, or so we thought. Deleting the certificate from the Certificate Template page might seem like the logical solution, but here's the catch: even after deletion, the certificate stubbornly persists in the User Personal Summary page for the learner. It's like trying to erase a mark on a whiteboard, only to find it faintly visible under the surface. 🤔

Unfortunately, there's no direct method to completely expunge the certificate without resorting to drastic measures. One option suggested by a Docebo support agent is to unenroll the learner, effectively wiping out their entire training history in the process. It's like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut – overly destructive and far from ideal. 😖

I’m curious, have you tried archiving without the renrolling option, I imagine that won’t wipe it, but just guessing. Ive seen some folks do the support suggestion and they essentially do it in a monthly ‘dispositioning’ and part of that process is pulling a report before doing and those reports act as the history. Annoying.

I’m having an issue with this too.  I need a way to bulk delete certificates issued in error.  I can’t find anything in the API to do this.  Hoping someone can help direct me to the right solution.  Seems like if someone’s completion status is changed from Completed to In Progress or other, the certificate should automatically be wiped. Or at minimum, now display no dates etc.

@LxSA5 Please note, in our testing.  If you unenroll the learner...it does NOT remove the certificate memory. If the learner re-enrolls into the course, it automatically issues a certificate - with the new date.  It's like the shared tracking for CLOR items...you think you’ve broken it by unenrolling, but it pops back up like the ghost in the machine unless you manually DELETE the certificate in the Certificates Issued list.

Hoping that someone has magic API to remove certificates that have been generated.

@hwolfehall perhaps try the archive and re-enrol feature?

@Kamo Archiving does not remove the certificate.  We have found the only way to remove certificates is to go in while they are still active enrollments, manually one by one delete the Certificate, and then unenroll or archive.  We desperately need a bulk action via CSV or API to manage issued certificates.
