Virtual Coach Deprecation on February 26, 2024

Virtual Coach Deprecation on February 26, 2024

Effective February 26, 2024, we will be sunsetting the Virtual Coach feature within Learn on both the web and mobile platforms and working to provide a more secure and effective solution.

Good news! Everything you could achieve using the Virtual Coach feature is still possible:

  • You can recommend content in the platform using personalized suggestions from the Recommendation Engine, and the Skills Dashboard - and when the Campaign Manager feature is released later this year, you will be able to create ad hoc campaigns to push for content completion, with full control of the content to include.
  • Learners can be set up to ask and receive answers on specific topics as of January 12, 2024, with a more effective Q&A feature based on AI to be released in 2024
  • We are also investing in enhancing the AI capabilities and tools within the Docebo platform and Shape product.

If you have the Virtual Coach feature enabled, you will receive an email reminder before the feature is turned off and controls removed from the Settings pages.

Thank you for your question. We have not released any other information about this as the feature is still in development. As more details become available, we will certainly share. There may also likely be an opportunity to participate in beta or early access groups so keep an eye on our Product Design Group section moving forward!

This is very exciting! @Jay.Kolbenson Will we be able to turn this on/off by domain? We have a really bad experience with the virtual coach bot where it recommended internal content to external customers, so we had to turn it off for our external domain.

@spotratz - Yes. There is a toggle under virtual coach in advanced settings! If you are using extended enterprises (EE), you can also toggle there for that specific EE.

@Jessica Tart  - There will be extensive controls on all functionalities pertaining to AI and the scope of it’s capabilities. We are highly focused on making sure that controls are thorough and explainable for aspects, such as activating and deactivating, what it’s connected to, what it’s doing, and how it is doing it.

Do these only apply to Discover/Coach/Learn customers or to everyone?

@Jay.Kolbenson Why is this being sunsetted when no other option is readily available? If this is being turned OFF for everyone, what was the point of moving the app access to the new AI page? Am confused at “what’s new” seeing as the recommendations to what will replace VC are things we already have in place on the LMS. Doesn't seem like we can customize or see any options for the Recommendation Engine; only ON or OFF. Also, what if we are not using Skills...does this mean our users will miss out on proper recommendations? So many questions...

Because VC was built on early AI architecture, we will very shortly be facing some security updates that will require significant resources to address. We feel it best to dedicate those resources to more modern AI feature development that better meets or exceeds the expectations of our prospects and customers. We also did extensive research on the number of platforms that actually had VC enabled and it was quite minimal. Since the primary use cases were around content recommendation and q&a, we are able to sunset the feature without losing functionality while we accelerate development and deployment of features better suited for the outcomes our customers are seeking today and looking forward. Totally understand the confusion and we do apologize for that. We are constantly trying to find the balance between informing early and providing consistent messaging. In the case of VC, we planned on having VC controls in the AI control panel during our early AI control panel concept development but since the deprecation will occur by or before the time the control panel hits production systems, the VC tile will not be present. I am currently reaching out to some of our product folks to get you some additional clarity around the other aspects of your questions above so stay tuned here for more information. Thank you for your questions and engagement in product roadmap/direction.

@Jay.Kolbenson The link to Managing Questions and Answers is a Discover, Coach, and Share document. Is that feature only available within DCS or will the Q&A feature be available to those of us in Learn? If it’s in Learn, can you provide a link to a document that shows us how to set up that feature? The linked article says “Managing” but it’s really a user doc. Thanks!

Hey,
Is there any further information on Campaign Manager yet Docebo?
