Earlier this year, my colleague Patrick Morales and I heard one repeated concern from conference attendees stopping by our Docebo University booth at Inspire Orlando.
I enrolled in Docebo Pro, because I’m a longtime admin and I want to get certified. I know my stuff. I’ve studied. But I haven’t taken it, because I’m afraid I’ll fail! What should I do?
This question deserves an answer sensitive to the real fear of taking tests learners have, but also anchored in the data. So, below, I wanted to share four data points and the trends we’re seeing from Docebo Pro. Taken together, these should inspire you to prepare effectively and give the test a shot.
- Most test-takers pass.
First things first: Docebo Pro isn’t a cakewalk. Almost four in five post-exam survey respondents found it challenging.
That’s by design. For the credential to have meaning, it has to reflect command of platform management, as subject matter experts across our organization have defined it (and as 83% of test-takers agree the certification does). Passing a test like this makes the certification a mastery credential rather than a participation trophy.
That said, you’ve got this! Almost all examinees pass in one of their three attempts. If they can do it, so can you.
- Docebo Pro is designed for admins with 6 months of experience.
In our Study Guide, we recommend at least 6 months of active platform management as a prerequisite to taking the test.
That means two things.
First, if you’re under that threshold, consider whether you’re really ready to earn this credential. While you can still pass, you’ll need to devote more effort to your preparation than you will if you take it later.
Second, if you’ve been administering a Docebo instance for longer than that, you’re probably a good candidate to take the test. At the same time, you still need to familiarize yourself with the exam format by consulting the study resources. Remember to review any configurations you haven’t touched since onboarding. You might also need to educate yourself about premium features like Extended Enterprise you may not use in your organization. (Don’t worry – you’ll just need a basic awareness of premium features. For example, you need to know that Connect is a middleware solution used to configure custom integrations and automated workflows.)
- 83% of examinees who passed the test reported the study resources were helpful.
According to exit survey data from test-takers, 83% found the resources prepared them adequately to succeed.
How you use these resources also matters.
We recommend starting with the Study Guide. Here, you’ll learn the format, the exam design, and some tips to crack it. For example, understanding how the test is scored can inform different strategies for approaching single answer questions and for multiple select questions.
To personalize your test prep, proceed to the Study Tracker. You can use this tool to self-assess your confidence on all topics the exam covers, leaving you with a prioritized list of subjects to study before taking the test. As a bonus, we’ve recently linked relevant articles in Docebo Help, our Knowledge Base, to help you get started on these subjects.
This is important. About 95% of our questions come directly or indirectly from this Knowledge Base documentation. When reading articles to review your knowledge, focus especially on best practices and dependencies. These tend to show up in many questions.
Finally, take our all-new Practice Test! You’ll get a scaled-down simulation of the real thing, complete with on-demand proctoring from Honorlock.
- A majority of test-takers pass Docebo Pro on their first try.
Reminder: you get three separate opportunities to pass the test with every certification purchase.
Given that, once you’ve reviewed the Study Guide, made sure that you’re mostly familiar with the topics identified in the Study Tracker, and taken the Practice Test, why not take a swing at the test?
Best case scenario? You’re one of more than half of test-takers that pass the first time.
Worst case scenario? You don’t pass, but you figure out what you need to study to earn that Docebo Pro badge the next time you make an attempt.
The choice is clear. If you’ve been an admin for at least six months, and you use our study resources to prepare, you don’t need to be anxious. You’re likely to pass – if not the first time, then on your second or third try. So, go for it. You’ve got this. The data supports you.
