Docebo and Storyline question: tracking quiz scores

To any Storyline experts:

An instructional design colleague says: “Storyline is supposed to allow the tracking of multiple quizzes in one course, with the ability to choose which quiz result determines the final completion status.”

Is that supported in Docebo? If so, how do we make this work?

All advice is appreciated!

Hi @JKolodner

The SCORM file should dictate what factors lead to a module being considered complete. So once it’s set in SL, it should communicate the completion criteria to Docebo.

I say this having never tested this particular scenario out, but in my experience the SCORM package itself is the deciding factor of what is ‘complete’, not Docebo. So if i set completion to require a test being completed, versus setting it to be a user gets through all of the slides, it shouldn’t really matter.

Hope this is clear.

Storyline can support multiple quizzes.

I think you will want to consider its impact carefully.

For example - a pre test post assessment flow? Should be pretty clear by the Q and As that you can get from a training material report.

You may want to consider a pre-test training material. Your content as a training material and then a post-test as a training material with limited views on the pretest. You do have some better controls in Articulate when it comes to chaining these events…as you can support the user experience a little better. But then you may lose visibility on what a person took to pass that course…,did they pretest out or not.

Hi also? Rise does support something similar…but in another life? I figure share that we found it to be very very buggy and causing multiple issues with scoring across the quizzes.

@dklinger last I checked, Rise is not as friendly with allowing choosing which test is the one that passes you.  We haven’t found a way to add a “pre-test” to opt-out of completing a whole course

Storyline works great for this, however if you want/need to report on question level data, you should review this article from Articulate. We still use SCORM 1.2 as our standard, though seriously outdated, so we cannot get that question level data out of Docebo. There were (back in the day) complicated workarounds such as when the user “Submits” a file was sent and updated a “Sheets” document. The return is usually not worth the investment, but if it is important to you/your customer, there is a possibility. Good luck!

We went round and round with this and the end result was the realization that Docebo only tracks completion of a SCORM based on passing the LAST quiz in the SCORM. So we built our Storyline and Rise courses so that you had to pass all the other tests before you could get to the last one.

Also as others have said, you can not easily pull or modify individual quizzes or quiz questions within a SCORM.
