Question

Is anyone else experiencing issues with Comslider?

Hi everyone,

We're currently experiencing an issue with Comslider and wanted to check whether anyone else is seeing the same thing.

Yesterday, we noticed that the Comslider website appeared to be inaccessible. Today, emails sent to both their Support and Sales email addresses are being returned as undeliverable.

We've implemented a temporary workaround on our platform, but we're trying to determine whether this is a wider service issue or something specific to our organisation.

Has anyone else experienced this issue this week? If so, have you been able to reach Comslider through any alternative contact details or channels?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Joy Guevarra - we ran into it yesterday and shot them a note. Will see if our instance is up this morning. We have had temporary issues in the past with them. We also shot them a note yesterday. They really do not have great support.

Nope very much down. Will send another note today. To answer part of your question - we just use the standard support channels. We also developed a protocol for when their downtime extends beyond 24 hours. It is a shame - the tool is such a strong visual.

Hi @Joy Guevarra, we are experiencing the same issue.  What temporary workaround did you implement?

I would skip the 3rd party tool and build the slider directly in the platform with CSS and HTML

Hi @Joy Guevarra - we had this issue start on last Friday and we sent them an email. On Monday it was still down and I sent them another email. Today, Tuesday it is still down and I will send them another email. In the past it had been down and the next day it was always up. Not sure what is going on. As @dklinger said, it is a strong visual tool to use when it is working.

The website itself is down - see below.

And on our LMS the slideshows show

Not sure what is going on since it has been down since Friday, July 31.

We experienced some drops in service in the past when the service was poorly calculating our licensing. It felt like into 2025 this was corrected. But now this extended outage - I didnt think too much of it because of the end of month. But extended outages are rough - and we dont have tons of recourse because it is a 3rd party solution.

The idea has been an idea that was requested and heavily voted on. My hope is that it can come back to life if we are witnessing the decline of a great service.

Will look for an iframe interim solution for now. As @JZenker has pointed out? There are quite a few tutorials pointing out how to also locally implement it.

Thanks @dklinger - yeah I did one a while back as well:

I wonder if comslider went out of business as OP said emails are coming back undeliverable

There emails arent bouncing? 😶 But they have never been responsive short of when something is on fire for many.

Thanks everyone @dklinger @canglin @Swatson for the quick responses. It's really helpful to know we're not the only organisation experiencing this.

For our temporary workaround, we've simply replaced the carousel with a static banner on the homepage so learners still have a clear landing page while the service is unavailable. It's not as engaging as the carousel, but it avoids broken or missing content.

Thanks as well to @JZenker for sharing your A New Slider - Infowheel/Slideshow Code. I'll definitely take a look at it as a potential longer-term alternative if the issue persists.

I appreciate everyone sharing their experiences and suggestions. We'll continue to monitor the situation and hope it's a temporary outage, but it's helpful to know others are seeing the same behaviour with the website and support channels.

Thanks again!

Hi @pierre.andignac,

I attended a webinar on How to Audit & Elevate Your LMS Engagement and you mentioned the Carousel you had created (see screen print below) for your customers.

Can you share how you created your Carousel?

@Joy Guevarra I mentioned yesterday that I didnt experience the bouncing of their emails.

I just checked my deleted filters from this morning? I got 3 undeliverable notices from followups that were sent yesterday.

No bueno. Not a good sign. 😶🙄

Ok - after spending way too much time thinking about this? I found another hosted solution that may make folks very very happy. I want to reserve what I say first with this one - I do think using the Docebo supported approaches and html sliders with css is a really great way to go. There are alot of lessons about having 3rd parties support visuals on your platform with this one.

Others though? Just want to be configurers and to really think about css in a minimal way. That is where the elegance of comslider lived for many.

I want to test in my own little corner just a weebit more before showcasing it. Well - and if I can show it off at an inspire? Maybe i will do that...
