Soft deadline for Days of Validity and hard deadline for Validity Period?

I have courses which are valid for 2 years. Upon the Validity Period the end date, they should not be accessed any longer (hard deadline). Each course needs to be completed within 90 days of enrollment, so I am setting that in the Days of Validity. I am using the Days of Validity as a ‘due date’ for the learners. These should be soft deadlines. I want them to appear as overdue, but as long as the course itself is still valid, according to the Validity Period, I want learners to still be able to access them. Is this possible? It seems that the Soft Deadline settings apply to both the Validity Period and Days of Validity.

If not possible through these settings, how can I manage user-level due dates separately from the overall course validity period?

yes the soft deadline supersedes both settings...it cannot be applied independently.

not sure if this helps, but we change the course status from Published to Under Maintenance when we’ve reached the date when we don’t want users taking the course anymore. that way we can still have our soft deadline as configured in the “time options” section of the course properties and users can still take the course until we mark it as under maintenance. the user just sees a lock icon on the course in their transcript once we change the status and they can’t open it.
