Re-Certification pattern

I am trying to setup a certification where Course A is completed in Year 1, Course B is completed to recertify 1 year later.  The following year Course A is retaken, the following year Course B and that loop is repeated.

I cannot think of a way to set this up in the system.  Does anyone have any ideas or has any one setup something like this?  Any help much appreciated 🤔

Why not using the same course and only change the training materials each time?

Or could you set up 2 certifications, an even and odd year certification each good for 2 years they every other year they take A or B

Hello, Ciaran here with Docebo Support. One thing to note: a single certification doesn’t appear to provide a built-in “Course A this year, Course B next year” alternating sequence. In the legacy certification setup, if you allow learners to retake the same item, they can renew with that item; if you don’t, renewal is through associated courses or learning plans they haven’t already completed. So putting A and B under one certification may make them renewal options rather than enforce an A-then-B cycle. Managing legacy certifications

The two-certification idea may be the better workaround: create one certification tied only to Course A and another tied only to Course B, with each valid for two years. That should keep the renewal records separate, but I’d test the renewal timing and learner experience with a test user before rolling it out.
