Most folks are doing calls to action on their own pages using widgets - but modal popup windows can be extremely helpful for all sorts of experiences. So I started an idea.
Just making sure everyone knows what I mean? A modal popup or box is an overlay experience in an application in the shape of a window. In the older application days (and it is still used honestly) a web developer would make a whole new window. Because of more modern design and CSS, we can make a div give a similar experience. If you think a picture is worth a thousand words, take a spin over to https://www.w3schools.com/howto/howto_css_modals.asp and press the Open Modal button. Or just take a peek here...
Many times we have applications that can dismiss those modal windows after a user clicks an ok button….and not stress the user experience for return customers. Other ones force the popup to be persistent (as in it would be something that you cannot dismiss).
Wouldn’t it be neat to have control of a modal popup that you could edit the text in on your pages so you would be able to:
- have an option to allow an admin to allow the user to dismiss the modal popup or to keep it persistent
- have an option to track what users clicked on an ok button in the popup
- have an option to report on the popup (status of dismissed or active)
- an option for it to be something that can be a widget (or single use) per page
- have an option to darken everything on page and make the modal popup a forced experience (just thought of this one)
