Hi Docebo Community,

We’re launching our Docebo platform soon and I have a question about calendar functionality.

We want learners to see ALL company-wide events in one place within Docebo, including:

  • ILTs (in calendar)
  • Marketing webinars
  • company-wide summit

Is there a way to add ‘external events’ with a registration link to the learner calendar in Docebo?

You could look to use an iFrame (there's an iframe widget) to bring in a web version of your external calendar (needs to be a URL) otherwise you would need to create those events as courses and sessions to get the to appear in the default Docebo calendar view.

@lrnlab thanks for your reply. I read this q&a https://community.docebo.com/product-q-a-7/how-to-add-company-events-with-links-to-my-calendar-2159?tid=2159&fid=7 Is there any way to do a ‘custom link’  as shown here? That would be ideal for our situation

Oh yes that works great but you need to create a course with sessions and that link would be added when you create the event. you can put any URL in that space. Sorry I misunderstood that you wanted to display an external calendar with the option for users to click a link to join an event that is not based on a course/session.

@lrnlab Thank you, so just click ‘Custom Tool’ and put in ‘Custom URL’ in that space?

Correct. make sure to include the full url including “https://”

I too have a similar requirement. Created ILT courses with open enrollment, however those courses are not listed in the My calendar widget. I ideally want any vILT courses and eLearning with due date to be displayed on the calendar for user to view and enroll. How to achieve this?

Update:

Received the below response from the customer support team

After looking into this, I found that the My calendar widget only displays a daily overview of all courses the user is enrolled in. It doesn't display courses where they can self-enroll :(

The My calendar page only displays events the user is actually booked in. To display all events in a calendar format, you can use the catalogue widget and set it to display as a calendar. This means that all your events need to be created in courses and placed in catalogues your audience can see/access.

@ponnammal.sundaram  We set ours up following @lrnlab recommendation. Here’s what worked for us:

  1. Created a Live Training catalog that includes all of our live training offerings
  2. Created a page called Open Live Trainings Calendar
  3. On the page settings, added the Catalog widget and set it to display as a calendar
  4. Added the same Catalog widget again on the page, but displayed as cards, so learners can browse sessions as well on the side with descriptions. (The titles are truncated on the calendar view).
  5. Ensured all ILTs we wanted to display were set up with Events, since only events display on the calendar view

This setup gives users both a visual calendar and a browsable list of live sessions on the same page.

In our instance, we did not link eLearnings to our page. Hope this helps!
