Hi everyone,

I’m struggling with setting up a new Bloodborne Pathogens course for 2025 in Docebo. I used the previous year’s training material, archived the old course, and reset the tracking. However, when I enroll users, the system is STILL automatically marking the course as complete.

I’ve spent so much time troubleshooting this—reading every article I can find, following recommended steps, and even working directly with Docebo support via email and Zoom calls. Despite all of that, the issue persists.

At this point, I’m at a loss. Has anyone successfully set up annual compliance courses without them auto-completing for users who took the previous version? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Just a guess….. is the training material in the Central Respository and that is why it is being recognized and marked complete automatically?

Hmm… Honestly that is a little baffling. We did successfully archive our 2024 compliance courses and rename the course shell for 2025. The only thing I can think of is that the course is part of a learning plan somewhere along the line. We had to first empty enrollments from our learning plans because I found that it would continue to mark users Complete in courses if they were still enrolled via a learning plan. Here were our steps:

  • Unenroll all learning plans with compliance courses
  • Archive and reset training material
  • Wait for background job to complete
  • Rename course
  • Re-enroll users into LPs/Courses

Yes, it is in the Central Repository. I don’t know where else I can save it to create courses from?

I only use Central Repository to store course files that I need to be marked complete if they are in multiple course shells. If it’s in Central Repository, and they complete it, it will be marked complete anywhere else it is used.

Remove it from the CR and just recreate it as a training material if you need it for another course shell. I’m pretty sure that is what is going wrong.

I am not sure how to create a course if the training material is not in the CR. Would you be willing to guide me through that process?

Do you have an equivalency in place for the course?

Do you have an equivalency in place for the course?

Yes, through our Hospital Credentialing course. However, only certain users have access to Hopsital Credentialing. The new 2025 Bloodborne Pathogens course is marking as complete, even for users who have not completed the Hospital Credentialing course.

Hard to say without seen your set-up...definitely sounds like an equivalency issue. Could it be on other courses you haven't yet reviewed?
