Hello! I looked through the January 2026 Q&A when course and learning plan archiving was activated, but couldn’t find an answer to my question. We are FINALLY getting into archiving our old courses using the new process. What occurred to me was, when archiving ILTs what happens to recordings posted on individual events? Are those uploaded to the Training Materials as videos or will they be deleted in the archiving process?
Archiving ILT courses - what happens to recordings?

Hi
When you archive an ILT course, any recordings attached directly to individual events will become inaccessible. They are not automatically converted or uploaded to your Training Materials repository.
According to Docebo's process, archiving an ILT course automatically cancels all past, present, and future sessions and events. The prompt you see to "Upload the training material to the Training material page" during the archive process only applies to assets already sitting in the course's main Training Materials tab, not to the event-level attachments. You can verify the exact behavior of sessions and training materials during archiving in the official documentation here: Archiving courses - Docebo Help Center.
Since this archiving feature is relatively new, my strong recommendation is to download any essential event recordings and re-upload them to new eLearning course as standard Video Training Materials before you trigger the archive. If you have a large backlog of old ILT courses, you will definitely want to handle this download/re-upload process automatically via API to save time and prevent manual errors.
Hope this helps clarify the process and saves you from losing any important videos!
