1. What specific problem or challenge are you facing?*
Our course capstones are broken into two or more parts (though these are not always evenly distributed). We are looking for a way to have the final score of the course based on a specific grade of the two (or more) capstones combined. You do have the option to average the scores, however, since they are not an equal number of questions, this does not reflect an accurate scoring. We have also tested the sum function but when using with percentages, it may show a score of 175%. If we switch to Sum using points, it doesn’t reflect a final score in percentage terms, which we need to stay in compliance with regulatory body requirements.
2. What outcome are you expecting?
We need some type if function that allows us to say ‘this person got 10 out of 12 on capstone 1 correct and 24 out of 30 on capstone 2 correct, therefore, they got 34 out of 42 correct, and it displays a 81% which is what we report to the regulating body.’
3. How will this feature impact your business and/or industry?*
Our industry, including all of the regulating bodies, require a 70% on a 100% scale to be reported. if we have to run through a separate process to calculate this score (either manually or by building a tool to do so in an automated fashion), it will cause significant time impact and constraints.
4. Examples / Screenshots / Mock ups (if applicable)
If in the following image, it allows for multi-select and there is a way to ensure that it’s calculating based on the total number of questions and not just an average of the total final percentages, that would work. Additionally, the tool that we’re migrating from gives us an option to add a weight to each of our capstones which allows us to calculate this same thing in a different manner (second screenshot below).
