Auto Assignment for Badges - Course Related

Does anyone know what happens if you set a badge to be automatically assigned and you update (add/replace) a course that is required for the auto assignment? Does the system remove the badge until the user completes the newly required courses?

Hi @sbarnes08 -

Automatic assignment of badges means that the badge is awarded once the corresponding event occurs, so I don't believe that there is anything that prompts the system to remove a badge once a learner has earned it, save maybe deleting the badge entirely. If a learner completes a course, they're awarded the badge for that completion activity. Changing the course in any way doesn't affect that because the event (for that learner) has already happened. The exception might be if you changed the title of the course (I haven't experimented with this however), but even then, I think the learner would still retain their initial badge.

You do have the option to manually unassign the badge for the learner(s) if needed. There's some information on this KB page that might be beneficial - https://help.docebo.com/hc/en-us/articles/7094979932690-Creating-and-managing-badges

Hope this helps.

Agree...typically and like Enrolment Rules, Docebo only pushes things out and does not remove assignments of things like courses so I would imagine it’s the same with badges. The new association should only take effect when the newly associated course is completed while those already awarded would not be affected. Definitely build out a test case and test out the process to be sure.
