I am interested in hearing if any other users have found a way to FULLY bypass the course page/course landing page. We use custom built pages with custom content blocks and I would like to LINK the images and buttons directly to my scorm file (Rise)… is that possible? The course landing page provides us with no value and instead, users are required to click at least 2-3 more times to access material.

@jcellitti - good morning so you bring up a very intriguing topic. The answer is that you maybe able to do it, but unless you go about it in a specific way? You are doing something that throws a flag in my book.

I haven't been able to pull it off. But I definitely am curious of where this one land and if others have pulled it off.

A course player is an important environment in just about any LMS as a “container” of sorts. So being able to get directly into the course and bypass a start button (which may be the end result of where you are going) may cause results that you all would not be happy with. These guys (Docebo) have been making strides with a headless container, but I believe it is a product layer/addon.

Heres my hacker thought - I would think if you load the SCORM course into your centeral repository? You would be able to get to a url of the course your S3 repository (I am making up a name for it) by using the inspector/console/developer options of your browser to understand where the content resides and then to develop a url where you engage it directly. Rise is interesting as well as storyline - if you engage them in a certain order, they can work like plain old html.

But here is the followup - we used to play games like this in other platforms. Any SCORM registered file would trigger SCORM/LMS commands and would come up as error messages in a window. It was pretty annoying for folk to consume that experience. I wouldnt wish it on you or your constituents.

With the enroll link - you can auto-enroll a person that cuts down on some noise. And there have been newer flavors of links added.

I am going to assume you gave them a shot with the custom content block?

Thanks for your input, @dklinger! We do use the enrollment link, we also have quick enrollment enabled. Our primary audience is customers searching for quick access to software product training so the extra LMS-style clicking really downplays their experience. I’m going to share your hacker thoughts with my team and we will do some testing :)

Have you tried using the “Course Auto-play” option? It should take you from the course card right into the content page and launch the first learning object, You can also enable course enrolment links to make it even easier for your users.

you can find it under the Player tab
