I want to be able to disable the ecommerce cart for customers to purchase courses but still want customers to be able to use their coupons only. Is there a way to do that?

If you turn OFF eCommerce, the coupons app will go with it. What are you trying to do exactly? What are you discounting if it’s not for sale?

We do not want customers to purchase from the site but we do want them to still be able to use coupons to redeem courses. They are not using coupons for discounts. Hope that makes sense.

Maybe look into using the Subscription Codes.  That is like using a coupon for enrollment.

agree with @Annarose.Peterson ...if your courses are not for sale, you cannot use coupons...Subscription codes / enrolment codes, or enrolment links are probably your best options
