Enable a learning path or course prerequisite that is not included in the learning path

We are trying to expand our certification program to a level based approach, where a user has to complete level 1 before they can start to engage with level 2 content. Has anyone configured this in Docebo? The only thing I have found is that the course has to exist in the learning path in order to establish a prerequisite.

Hi Kari. I had to do the same thing once. Here is how I did it

  1. Create your 2 learning plans
  2. Create your certifications
  3. Create Groups with automated rules to add people who have the certification. Set them to update automatically
  4. Then put your certification #2 into a catalog only visible to people in the “Earned Certification 1” Group.

This way someone earns the first certification and POOF the next plan just appears for them.

This has the added benefit of being able to assign plan to any user regardless of what certification they earned or which group they are in. Once you are assigned a plan you see it regardless of group membership. You can also add someone to a group manually to bypass the same way. This will work for a catalog or in my case a specific certification homepage (I wasn’t using a catalog). Also the page didn’t become available until someone completed a “certification prerequisite” class. I actually did 4 layers of nesting in this.

Hope this helps.
