We manage multiple learning plans that are customized for each client, and the course sequence varies by client. We also offer the same courses individually, but those versions do not include prerequisites.

Has anybody found a solution or workaround to make this functionality work? I do not want to duplicate courses/training materials per client.

Examples

Client 1 - Learning plan
Course A
Course B
Course C

Client 2 - Learning plan
Course B
Course C
Course A

Individual User -enrolled at the course level per course, not via a learning plan
Course B
Course A

When the user completes a course that is also used across other LP’s, each LP should recognize that the course was already completed. Can you elaborate on what you are trying to build out? Do you mean that you want to have customized LP’s based on your client where the order of the courses would be different for each client?

Hello @lrnlab - the issue is that each one of our clients use the courses differently both inside and outside of learning plans.

  • Clients 1 wants the same learning plan with the same courses, but wants pre-reqs setup so the learner has to navigate the learning plan in a specific order.
  • Client 2may want students to freely navigate without prerequisites from course to course within the learning plan.
  • Client 3 wants a learning plan with the same courses, but arranged in a different order with different pre-reqs
  • Client 4 does not want a learning plan at all, but wants to purchase the individual courses outside of the learning plan.

Examples:

Client 1 (pre-reqs required - must take course 1, then 2, then, 3, then 4 in that order)

Learning plan 1: How to Bake a Cake

Course 1: Cake Foundations

Course 2: From Scratch & Flavor Mastery

Course 3: Frosting & Filling Skills

Course 4: Decoration & Creativity

Client 2 (No pre-reqs)

Problem: Prereqs from Learning Plan 1 are crossing over to Learning plan 2.

Learning plan 2:  How to Bake a Cake

Course 1: Cake Foundations

Course 2: From Scratch & Flavor Mastery

Course 3: Frosting & Filling Skills

Course 4: Decoration & Creativity

Client 3 (pre-reqs required, but in a different order)

Problem: Prereqs from Learning Plan 1 are crossing over to Learning plan 3. Student can’t take Course 2 until Course 1 is complete.)

Learning plan 3: How to Bake a Cake

Course 2: From Scratch & Flavor Mastery

Course 1: Cake Foundations

Course 4: Decoration & Creativity

Course 3: Frosting & Filling Skills

💡I just had an idea...is this all happening because I am using the same user profile causing confusion within one user’s account? I can’t image that one student would ever span across all 4 clients scenarios.

I think I understand what you're saying...you have different LP’s using the same courses but with different settings (pre-req in different order) so when the user logs in to see the LP,, the course that should be position 1 is now in a different position causing the user to have to complete the LP (if possible) in the wrong order based on the fact that they may have completed a course that was in position 1 but is now tucked behind a pre-req...is that it? If yes, you might need to create copies of your courses to build unique LPs.

This error was occurring because I was assigning the same test users to multiple different learning plans that contained the same courses, but different pre-reqs. I tested this with different test users and this resolved itself. This is only a problem when the same user is assigned to multiple learning plans with the same courses.
