Notifications not triggering after an event

Hello,

I am testing notifications to trigger 1 hour after the deadline under the “Learn has yet to complete the course” I set a 1 day validity since enrollment and a soft deadline. I have waited a 1 day and 2 hours and the notification has yet to trigger. 

I have read that editing notifications might reset the timers or that notifications can be delayed due to job batches but no clear answer.

Hi ​@hnakasone, the “Learner has yet to complete a course” notification is triggered based on the enrollment date, not on course deadlines or validity expiration. This means that enrollment validity and soft deadlines don’t affect when this notification is sent.

So if the notification is set to fire “1 hour after,” it will do so 1 hour after enrollment (if the course is still incomplete), not 1 hour after the deadline is passed. 

I would suggest using a different notification i.e. “Course has expired” and make it fire X-hours/ days before or after to get the desired behavior. Take in account your soft-deadline to set the right timing.
