Question about E-commerce and Extended Enterprise

Currently, our organization uses extended enterprise to offer online courses to staff and sell courses to the public. Right now, we use a separate point-of-sale system and API to handle online course purchases from the public as we sell other items, such as admission tickets.

If you have e-commerce turned on, is it automatically turned on for all your domains? E.g. would internal staff need to go through the payment process (even if it is “free” or have a coupon making it free) in order to enroll in a course? Or, can you set it up so that e-commerce is activated only on a subdomain?

You should be able to control which branches (sub domains) can use eCommerce vs not.
