Test-Out Course in Learning Plan

Hi. My team is exploring a test-out pathway for our learners. Is it possible to configure a Learning Plan so that learners complete a pre-assessment course first, and if they achieve a passing score, the associated courses are automatically waived or marked as completed, while learners who do not pass must complete the courses?

I am already considering Equivalences as an option for learners that pass the test and trigger course completion. But I am not sure how learners who don’t pass the test will be able to move forward to the next courses if the pre-assessment course is never passed/completed.

Hi ​@urichong If you do not use prerequisites in your LP, they will be allowed to move to the next course if the pre-test is failed however the LP will remain incomplete unless you make the pre-test optional. Agree that using equivalencies will be needed. If you make the last course or another key item in your LP an equivalency to the pretest it should allow the pretest to be marked as completed if it was failed (pretty sure this should work but you should test thoroughly).

Chiming in here, the other idea would be to make the prerequisite course a standalone, once completing it - you can make that a group status, now you can use that group as a function for an enrollment rule to place a user in that course.

Essentially you’re requiring the prerequisite is completed before proceeding to the LP. If they self unenroll because they decide the course isn’t for them, the enrollment rule won’t come into effect.
