Hi! We want to require that our employees take 4 credit hours from any course in JJU, we would then like them to be issued a certificate so that if can be renewed every 365 days. We need to roll this out in batches based on review dates. So those who just had their review in June will have until next June to complete it. We cannot figure out how to accomplish this. Any ideas?

Hi @Ashjj That’s a tough one since you cannot grant a certification based on total number of CE credits.

CE credits are added to the individual course properties so technically any and all courses can grant CE credits.

To trim this down, do you have only some course that are authorized to grant CE credits? If yes, you may want put those courses in a dedicated catalog to start and perhaps add some text to your course titles that show how many CE credits each course grants when completed.

If the list of approved courses is relatively small, you can look use course equivalencies to try and mark a “hidden” course as the trigger to award the certification. This would require a group to gather those that completed at least 1 course (preferably a mandatory course) and then use enrolment rules to assign the “hidden’ course that when assigned would automatically be marked as completed via the equivalencies. The hidden course would the one tied to the certification.

Another option could be to use a learning plan to control this; using the mandatory/optional settings to allow users to complete only some of the LP courses for credit. You could then use the LP to award the certification; perhaps in combination with the option above.

Sorry I have no direct solution for this but hopefully you can find some useful information in this post.
