I have a video training material in an e-learning course that is starting out automatically muted for people.  We are getting a lot of complaints from people struggling to get it working quickly.  Is there anyway to keep videos from being auto-muted?   I didn’t even know this was a thing.

sounds a lot like the default browser behavior getting you, discussed here:

I looked at that, but the muting appears to be happening within the Docebo player.

is your video from a streaming service or is it loaded directly into Docebo? If the former, maybe check the settings on the streaming service.

It’s loaded directly into Docebo.  Maybe it is the browser issue?  If so, is there any work around to keep it from happening?

If it is a browser issue, you might try checking your browser settings...however this may only solve it for you and not for your org as a whole...If that is the issue, you may need to contact your IT team to ask them to have a look at the enterprise settings.

Do you have access to the file in the authoring environment, like Storyline or Camtasia? If yes, you might need to go into the application to make sure the settings are as you need them to be.

We’ve just recently been getting this feedback from users also. I would say in the past two weeks. Can anyone confirm if it is in fact a browser issue (I assume some update) or something within Docebo?

We are seeing the same issue.

It appears that the default for the audio is mute, although I don’t see a setting for this anywhere. When you click “unmute” the default audio setting remains at zero and appears in the muted status. To raise the audio on the video, you must manually drag the audio bar to a higher level which will then allow you to hear audio. Once this is done on one video, the same audio settings will apply to all.
By the way, this just started happening, I think it might be a bug.

It is not a source issue because when I uploaded a video it defaulted to play. Now it is defaulting to mute.

@maryanneharrison Did you submit a support ticket?

I opened a ticket on this same issue. I discovered that when I preview the video from our Central Repository, where it was originally uploaded, it plays with volume up by default. The default to Mute occurs within the course where it was added as Training Material. So, somewhere between the Central Repository and the course Player, it is reset to Mute.

We’ve also had the same trouble! The end user ended up updating their driver settings and the issue resolved, but I’m not sure if it’s coincidental or not. Quite frustrating. (For reference, also is an in-house video uploaded directly to the platform, not streamed.)

@trainerlissa which driver did the user update?

He wasn’t specific, unfortunately. His email said, “found a truckload of driver updates including an NVidia update. Installed all driver updates and it worked great after that.” I asked him which one(s) specifically, but he just carte blanche updated everything, I guess.

Did anyone who submitted a ticket get this figured out? I also have uploaded videos directly into Docebo and the first time a user watches a video, the audio is muted. It seems like once they change the audio setting once, videos do not start on mute going forward. We use Firefox browser but other videos, like on our intranet, or youtube do not start on mute. Thank you.

My “default to mute” issue was resolved by the Docebo Help Desk. The explanation I received read, “Just wanted to provide an update to advise the code fix for this issue has been released.” That message was on Jan 31. I don’t know what code was fixed or why it didn’t resolve everyone’s issue, but it definitely worked for me.

Thank you! I may have to submit one then. Thank you for letting me know!
