Hi everyone!

I’m looking to update our notification strategy and just wanted to confirm the behavior of 2 notifications.

Currently, we have “Learner has yet to complete a course” notification set up for 2, 3, and 4 weeks post training launch. I set a trigger filter for each course that we launch. I also have a notice for Managers that goes out at the 3 week mark as well. I also have notices for “course has expired” for managers and users 1 day and 1 week after, which I’ve been manually adding courses as triggers too (not sure if I need to do this if there’s an expiration date on the course).

  1. Course has expired notification: I want to confirm, if I set this one up:
    1. I don’t have to set trigger filters and it will go out for all courses that have an expiration date, and not touch a course without an expiration date.
    2. If a user completes the training, they will NOT receive an email.
  2. Digest: Learner Has Yet to Complete a Course: I want to confirm
    1. That this will send a single email to a manager with ALL their Team Members outstanding.
    2. Is it just for a course that is triggered, all courses, are they all in the same email?

Additionally - if anyone has their own cool tips and tricks for notifications, please share! We are trying to reduce the amount of work on our admins as well as the number of emails that are sent to our users and Managers.

You are correct about the expiry email only going out to those who at the moment of the trigger haven't yet completed a course that has a due date. The expiry email is triggered based on the course due date while the “learner has yet to complete a course” is triggered from the enrolment date, regardless of whether there is a due date on the course. I tend to only use the expiry which is more reliable as the :”learner has yet to complete...” will also apply (if set in your triggers or if set for all courses) to courses where the user has self enrolled.
