Docebo Asset Capabilities

Hi! I’ve been searching the community for about to years on this topic, and still haven’t found a true workaround. When we upload PDFs into Docebo, we typically add them as assets. Unfortunately, embedded links and navigation DON’T work in assets. I often have a table of contents, embedded videos (also added to Docebo as assets, and linked in the PDF for easy access.) This is a big issue for us, especially since the obvious “download” button has been removed. Learners now have to click the three dots icon, and THEN click download. This is not intuitive at all. 

 

I’d appreciate support, ideas, or a roadmap for when any of these features may change:

  • Can links be clickable within a PDF?
  • Can PDF settings be manually adjusted to choose landscape vs portrait view (right now defaults to a slide setting, which isn’t ideal for all file types.)
  • If links can’t be accessed, can the DOWNLOAD button be made more obvious?
  • Will additional resources (survey from central repository, for example) ever be able to be added to an asset?

    I 100% back this request.  The reasons you listed are some of the main reasons why we shy away from using Coach & Share assets for more of our documentation.  The format of an asset appears to be designed to work well with videos or slideshows but not for documents.  I would love to see a way have a true built-in PDF viewer that maintains functionality like hyperlinks as well as a portrait view.  Most users were not noticing the Download option or thinking to use it to get the full functionality of a PDF.

    Our workaround, which is not optimal use of the platform but works for us given the limitations, is that we store our documents on an external server and then we create C&S assets as links to those items.  That gives us the browsing/searching functions from C&S but then users just click on the link in the asset and view the actual PDF with the normal browser PDF viewers.
