What is the trigger now for certification awards?

In my experiments, it seems that it would in some ways becomes an either/or with the existing Learning Plan.

There’s essentially a Learning Plan (without a certification) or a Certification which is functionally the same as a Learning Plan but grants a certification at the end.  Both would be marked completed when the learner completes all of the mandatory courses.

It’s a bit of a mindset change as I’ve tested, because to get the Certification you have to be enrolled in it vs the certification being granted when completing a specific course.  I do think though it will make it clearer for learners on renewal where it was always hard to explain why just re-taking the course wasn’t the same a recertifying.  

Oh that makes sense now. Enrolling the learner in the certification instead of just in the course. 

Previously, all of our certifications were attached to compliance courses. Learners got enrolled in courses and when they completed it the first time, it would put them in the certification that was attached and prompt them to renew at whatever frequency it was set to. 

And this kind of answers my other thread where I asked the question. Because this would now serve more like a learning plan. Where your enrollment rule would enroll them in the “certification” (like a learning plan) and it would just all be triggered from there if I’m getting this right. 

Yes, the Enrollment Rules set-up allows you to choose from the Certifications under the Learning Plans so you can build out the automated enrollment into the certification similar to how you probably do today.
