Live in Sandbox as of December 18, 2023

Wait? Another Sandbox release? Didn’t we just have one two weeks ago? That’s right, we did! Just in case you missed it, we’re making some changes to our release schedule for 2024  and to reconcile those changes, we ended up with two sandbox releases this month - sneaking in a few more features for you to test out in 2023!

In this update, we’re saying hello to several exciting updates and goodbye to 2023. It’s been a great year and we’re thrilled to end on some big quality-of-life improvements that will make 2024 run more smoothly.

So, if your new year’s resolution is to deliver better learning in less time, we’re committed to helping you get there.

Please note: The features in this sandbox release are expected to go live in your production environment between February 26-28, 2024, subject to change based on the discretion of Docebo.

Same Rank on Leaderboard

A little friendly competition is never a bad thing—as long as it’s fair! Previously, if two learners had identical scores, the leaderboard would rank them based on when they earned their points. That didn’t feel good, so we’ve updated leaderboards to allow multiple users to share the same rank.

Now ‘everybody wins!’ can be literally true 🙂

Course Creator’ Field Added

Let us know if this conversation sounds familiar:

“That Brew a Banger Blend coffee course has gotten really popular. Who put that one together? Raul?”

“No, Raul’s course was called Bring the Best Beans…I think Melody built the course you’re talking about.”

“Are you sure? I thought Melody’s course was Brain-bending Barista-”

It’s confusing. And admins can struggle to track which user created which course.

We’re launching a simple fix: Every course will now have an additional field in the ‘Properties’ tab and Course Management table called ‘Course Creator,’ which will show you who created the course. This new property is searchable and filterable.

Bonus: We’ve also added a ‘Creation Date’ in the same way to give you even more information and searching options.

Global Search Results Configuration

Currently, when a user searches for a course, that course's training materials are shown as separate search results. This can clog up the results and make it harder to find what you’re looking for.

To help, admins can now select what results are shown in global search pages by domain. They can select the order and the tabs to be shown (or hidden) in the global search landing page. As a reminder, the tabs are All Results, My Courses&LPs, Training Materials, Course Catalogs, Assets, and Questions & Answers.

When you hide a tab, the system will no longer search that type of content. However, please note that there’s one exception: If you hide courses, searching for a training material will still show the course it’s part of.

Happy searching!

Consistent Enrollment Counters

This is a big one! We’re excited to roll this fix out and are confident it will reduce friction and save a lot of time.

Previously, when a Power User looked up enrollment data for a course, they only saw the enrolled learners that were members of groups assigned to them. This meant that if two power users looked up the enrollment data for the same course, they might see a different number. This led to a lot of errors and confusion.

We’ve fixed this and now all power users will get accurate enrollment data, no matter what visibility settings and permissions they have. Note that the visibility settings themselves will not change: Power users will still only see information on the learners they have permission to see. But now they’ll also see that more slots in the course have been filled.

That’s a wrap!

As we wrap up 2023, we’re extremely grateful for our customers and community. We’re excited to continue collaborating and improving Docebo to make it the best product it can be.

See you in 2024 🙂

Yay for Course Creator field.  I asked for that in February, and here it is in time for Christmas!  Thanks Docebo!

“Consistent Enrollment Counters”

“Previously, when a Power User looked up enrollment data for a course, they only saw the enrolled learners that were members of groups assigned to them.”

Is this the same for Branches and Groups?

Thank you for this! Where can we test the global search settings?

It would be great if this field could be edible and not system-generated. For our use case, I’d like to set this field as the course owner so that we have a centralized location to maintain who owns the courses and when they were created for updating purposes.

Really happy about the Global Search config updates. We have a LinkedIn Learning integration and the always seem to name and tag the course and the content the same way so you get 2 identical search results for the same course. Looking forward to this going live.

Huge update for sure, thanks! For the Course Creator field, is that editable or does it default to the user that creates the course in the LMS. I could see a use case for wanting to use that field to list the person that created the courseware, which for us is not usually the person actually adding it to the LMS. I know we could replicate this using an additional field so just curious. Thanks again for the great update!

We use an additional field for this. That way you can change it as people/responsibilities change.

Just tested the Course Enrolment Numbers and do not see any change…

An admin from domain A can see course in a catalogue that has 8 users enrolled. Only 1 user is part of domain A while the others are in another domain. When I look at the enrolments, I only see the 1 user counted and not all 8…

Am I missing something or some config that needs to be done?

am thinking this only applies to groups cause when I tested, I cannot see any difference in the numbers...will need to run a test on groups but that’s not really the only enrolment model we use; so if that is the only way to display the proper enrolment numbers, this is not that useful unfortunately…

@Jay.Kolbenson can you please provide a little more context on how we get these numbers to show properly? Thx

Hello @lrnlab

In order for this to work, you will need to activate it here:

Does this help?

Just curious, can’t you just make a course additional field for your environment as is?

Is this something that has to be turned on as I dont see it?

Hello,
@oliviachow @karen @KaterinaT @dandrews For global search settings you can customize Global Search Tabs in advanced settings here:

Definitely read you all loud and clear on the additional info around these features. We currently release KB articles for new features in time for production release but it’s clear there is a need earlier as you are trying things out in the sandbox. We will bring this feedback back to the teams and address. Please let me know what additional help I can provide on the above.
