Hello! I hope you are all good! I was wondering if the amazing Docebo community will be able to help this new joiner!

I have recently taken over the running of the platform and it is still very much in the early stages and I am trying to get to grips with creating a new welcome page. Looking on this community, I can see people have created some amazing landing pages.

Is the only way to do this through CSS? And if I have no knowledge of CSS does Docebo work with external partners to help with this? Any advice or help for a novice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Charlotte

While a lot of people use custom CSS and html, I believe you can create interesting and useful home pages using the widgets without custom work.

Using impactful images and keeping with your brand is important for sure.

I think it all depends on what you want to do to determine if you need custom stuff. There is a lot of custom work shared in the community for you to leverage as well, peek around and reuse at will.

Good luck and Welcome!

We launched our platform last March with an internal and an external (customer-facing) webpage. At this time, we are currently working to revamp both.

Some things we have noted as we create this next welcome page:

  1. The Calendar is important to have if you set deadlines on courses or have a dense ILT offering.
  2. Images linking to pages which provide resources on creatin topics and task is a great way of organizing content.
  3. Identify what is important to your organization and highlight it on the page. Whether it is specific products or company culture, this can be a great resource!
  4. Though you cannot upload a video unless if is available via an external link, you CAN add in a GIF using the HTML/WYSIWYG widget.

If you have a sandbox, explore concepts there and bring them over to the production area. Additionally, if you have DCS it can add an additional level of content to evaluate adding.

Feel free to message me for additional insights.

I have stumbled upon a super easy and cool way to have slider content displayed on my home page.   We use a digital signage app (optisign) to broadcast news and events to each of our office locations.  It is super simple to upload content such as video, pictures, etc. into a slide show.  Nothing special just use Canva, PPT, Pictures or Videos and then I can ‘push’ the broadcast to different screens.

Well, i was able to create a widget on the Docebo homepage for iFrame and actually map the URL to Optisign.    So now I can update any news and information via my Optisign app and simply ‘push’ to Docebo.

Now I have updated news and events trending on my home pages such as birthdays, announcements, and more.   I banged my head with CSS for a while and this was a next level solution that I already owned and looks amazing

Welcome to Docebo! I agree with Jeanette, the built-in widget pages have some major power behind them.  One thing to consider, if you are going to be directing learners to the mobile app (custom-branded or the standard), the HTML/CSS widgets don’t convert over to mobile.  In our page designs, we opted for mostly standard widgets in order to avoid having to re-code everything for mobile which requires a lot more expertise.

Another thing to consider if you will be utilizing widget pages is menus!  Pages get built-out for navigation in the platform but nothing is accessible to learners until the page gets added to a menu.

@akinkle - hi - you may want to consider comslider as an option overtime. Beautiful for slider content.

I get the app though. Very clever (and like the app - comslider is supported via an iFrame).

@CharlotteB - you asked about an external partner. A fav of ours is Eskillz. They can listen and recommend approaches to you. @aempson can point you in the right direction.

@dklinger Comslider is a good option that I have also used.   I was already using Optisign to push out news via TV screens at our various office locations.   It is an app that you can set up on a smart TV or computer and ‘push content’ to.   What I like about this app vs. Comslider is that I do the work completely independent and then simply upload to the optisign app and rearrange the playlist and then hit ‘push’.   So, I can be at a company event in our breakroom and take a video and upload it to the app and push in real time from my phone.    The real advantage is I have an intern make a series of little snippets of news in Canva, then I approve and upload to Optisign and simply push out.  Comslider is neat too :)

Charlotte Welcome to this amazing Community!  I would be happy to talk with you , especially as you are just getting up to speed on your platform.  Something else you might find very help is our monthly Best Practice Webinars.  These are presented by customers just like you and talk more about specific use cases versus just how to.
