Hi All,

I am looking at badges for users who complete our courses and learning plans and I wondered if anybody had any tips for how to create the badge images. I am looking at a badge for a learning plan for instance, but then if they complete all the learning plans for a certain product they would then receive an addtional “super” badge to show this accomplishment. Has anybody done anything similar and would care to share their image? Can you do a shield type badge or is it just square and circle type badges?

Any best practice advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!

Hi @BWeschke

I have not used it much but one of my colleagues has shown me this site: https://badge.design/, wherein you can create your own badges. Presumably other such sites exist as well but this one is fairly easy to use.

I hope this helps.

@NateC  thanks for the suggestion! I was looking to also get some suggestions from what people have already created to see what is possible and to see if there were any limitations to what you can and can’t do. I will check out the link though and have a play.

Our Marketing Department created ours and we then we added the badge option within the applicable course > properties > General Settings > course additional fields and used a drop down to pick the appropriate badge for that course.

I personally use Canva for all of my badges. This gives me the freedom to adjust badges as much as I need to and use Canva’s vast elements to create appealing designs pretty quickly.

Here’s an example of one I created yesterday for a trade-in course we offer to our learners.

Based on what I’ve seen, badges are limited to the circle format.

I’m a graphic designer as well as an instructional designer so I have Photoshop and make the badges for our courses, they’re a square format and while they appear as a circle in some parts of the platform (like on the homepage Achievements widget) the full square is shown in the learner’s My Badges and Points page:

So when designing them I have to keep that in mind and keep the key info in a center circle area.

@monica.cheek I’m curious, I always assign Badges to courses via the Badge management area, how are you doing it from course additional fields? Is it just a text field where you enter the name of the badge?
