Badge Visibility

Hello Docebo Friends!

I’ve been told by Docebo that there is no way to restrict Badge visibility by branch or group.

I am looking for a workaround because we have multiple distributors, three different brands, and many branches with diverse needs for specific badges.

Any and all help/suggestions are welcome.

Thank you!

Hi @KatieKarkowski my name is Marco and i work as Product Manager in Docebo

I have an update on this topic, we are currently redesigning the admin part of Badges, and one of the features that will be available is to be able to create “Visibility Groups” based on branch and groups for the badges. We want badges to be more flexible to allow to manage complex scenarios.

Our developers are currently working this redesign, a release date for the feature is not yet announced, will be posted as soon as is available .

About the current scenario, is not possible to limit the visibility of badges on badge configuration, but is possible to limit them using the rules for automatic assignment, for example in case of courses select courses that match the visibility needed.

Thanks for you interest in Badges!

Ciao

Marco

I don’t have a lot of experience with the gamification platform specifically, but seems to me that you could build a “schema” by distributor (or brand) and then build badges (both names and images) that match each of the individual rewards. For example: Distributor 1 > Brand 1> Branch A could have badges that are green, and Distributor 2 > Brand 2 > Branch B could have badges that are purple. Then each green badge could be “Green Product Knowledge”, “Green Sales”, etc.

We stopped using them because of this. We prefer that our external customers do not see leaderboards with employee/internal badges visible, for example. Glad to hear that there is a future update to address this.

This is fantastic news, Marco! Thank you for updating us all. Thank you KMallette for your work around also! It’ll be great when you guys release this because our customers are super excited for badges and leaderboards and right now it just looks like a bunch of badges they cannot achieve due to how they’re set up by branch/course specificity.

Thank you all again!

@KatieKarkowski I know this probably won’t be much help to you but in our case, we only use badging/gamification for our internal employees and not our external partners. We can do this somewhat successfully because:

  1. Our internal users have entirely different learning plans that don’t overlap with partner learning plans so badges are earned upon completion of these employee-only learning plans
  2. We don’t show any gamification on any custom pages that partners see.

I say “somewhat successfully” above because there is one way a partner can see badge/leaderboard and that’s through clicking on the trophy icon on the menu bar at the top of the screen. I hate that; however, I can barely get partner users to access any of the important content let alone clicking on the trophy icon. It’s definitely not ideal and I am glad to hear that this will be addressed at some point.

Just ran into this challenge. I have external customers and internal customers both using the gamification. Showing the other branch’s badges as “available” is misleading. It looks like they should be able to earn these points, but they can’t, because they can’t get to the content it’s mapped to. So it looks like there’s a problem
