Task Widget for Pages: Power User Team's Overdue Courses

We have a ‘task list’ widget built as part of our power user’s standard dashboard. This widget is set to only show overdue coursework for employees who report to that power user. However, the widget is showing overdue coursework for all employees who have EVER reported to that power user (i.e. including those who are now inactive/left the company). Does anyone know a way to get the widget to only show active employees in the task list?

Hello!

Do you have the power user’s employees assigned to them as a resource? We have a similar set up on our end, where managers are Power Users and their employees are assigned to them. We did this for manager review of assignments to make sure only the reporting manager got the assignment review request.

I believe Dnormand0221 is correct in that it depends on which users are assigned to them in the power users interface.

Are you using the Manager levels to assign people to managers that they report to? This can create a similar view, though it’s different in nuance. I’m not sure if this is how the task widget works though.

The way we handle this is not to assign individual people to power users but rather to assign Branches (you could also do this via Groups). Our entire org structure is put into Branches that represent the hierarchy. So then I assign Manager A to Branch A so that if someone leaves Branch A, they will be auto-removed from Manager A’s list. In this situation, this also allows Senior and Directors to see their entire hierarchy, so be aware of this if this is something you want. You don’t have to set up the Branches that way, just one possible solution.

Because I set it up this way, I only have to manage the branches as a whole, not individual people. There are a few ways to do this. The easiest is the Automation Tool where it reads a CSV file in an FTP server. My method is to bulk upload a CSV each month that I download from our HR system, process with a macro that assigns the branch names, and push the branches updates out that way.

Inactive employees will continue to appear if they are assigned to a person, so I would also recommend having a “Deactivated” branch that holds all users who have left the organization.
