Hi I have a query about GA4 integration.
Currently it is lacking some key events that would be extremely valuable for measurement.
If Enhanced measurement is turned on in GA4, only the following events pickup:
- Page views
- Scrolls
- Outbound clicks (the click event)
The following events do not pickup:
- Site search (because search results appear as an appended path, not a parameter)
- Video engagement ( because videos are not YouTube videos)
- File downloads ( I assume this is because of how the downloads work)
Form interactions sort of work in that we are getting form_start but not form_submit events in GA4.
The video engagement events are a great loss as we would be able to measure engagement with our course content, as are downloads as we could gauge how many users prefer the course content as a document.
Do you have any plans to add support for these events? they are listed here under enhanced measurement https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/9216061?hl=en&ref_topic=13367566&sjid=16141642843596660396-AP The other pages in this section describe both automatically collected events and recommended events. The Custom events page links to the developer page on how to add events for gtag.js.
If you are not planning support could you please add a Google Tag Manager integration as I would then be able to add event tags and triggers myself to enhance our tracking.
many thanks
Jon Whitehead
