Is there a substantial difference between the 2 SCORM file types other than character limits? We have a course we created internally that has a video within it that is now causing problems. I tried the debugging but it did not help, and now I have both SCORM file types but unsure if the troubleshooting should be different or what else I can do. Pros and cons of each? This course is a bit complicated with branching, knowledge precheck test out options, and several videos, each of which is followed by test questions. Trying to determine why one video at the end is giving some users trouble (not playing and therefore not completing the course) but not others, and it does not seem to be linked to VPN, browser, cookies, or anything else we have tested.

@armaan01 - good morning from the East Coast.

A suggestion - give your course a shot “as exported” in a free account of SCORM cloud first.

A course not loading a single video suggests to me an interrupted upload and the SCORM package is erroring out.

If you can replicate the problem, I would suggest don’t actually worry about your different SCORM formats (by the way - I swear by the “latest” SCORM flavors - SCORM 2004 v3 when exporting to Docebo) to avoid troubleshooting through multiple variables.

Personally, I like the way @dwilburn is pointing you towards - also attempting to troubleshoot the package before trying to switch formats.

Sorry you’re experiencing the SCORM issue. I typically SCORM 1.2 per Docebo’s guidance. Usually if a learner has issues with video I found that it is their browser that is the issue and needs updated or clearing the cache resolves the issue. Especially when other learners don’t experience the issue, it’s typically in my experience not your SCORM file that is causes the problem. Just thought I would give you my experience and let you know that I am cheering for you to find a resolution.

Recommend using xAPI based on all the different interactions you have within the courseware. xAPI provides better performance for modern html interactions and triggers. If you can load it in xAPI or cmi5 may yield better results.

Hi @armaan01 - you can quickly rule out (most) browser issues with a user by having them use an incognito window. If it works in incognito window then it is a browser issue.

Thank you all. Clarifying that we did rule out browser issues first (one of each of the issues we had in testing was in Chrome and Edge - and we did test logging in as the user in incognito as well). They were also new hires with new laptops so even though they were asked to remove cookies and cache, there was no impact to this. I will look into the SCORM cloud and reuploading!

I’ve had the least trouble using SCORM 2004 v3 edition. I do also push hard for learners to check their web browser meet the minimum spec before going to far on the platform. I’m using a URL like the following one to allow people to self check if their browser is suitable i.e. meets Docebo recommendations, pop-ups, cookies, etc… and it has helped also. I update this link as versions of browsers update over time.

https://www.whatismybrowser.com/minimum-system-requirements/view?javascript=enabled&cookies=enabled&cookies-third-party=enabled&popups=enabled&browser=latest&chrome=135&firefox=137&edge=135&safari=16&hardware-type=computer
