Making a Course a Prerequisite for Another Course

Here is a link to a discussion from years ago regarding making a single course a prerequisite for another course, without the requirement of having the courses in the same learning plan. I am running into a very similar issue. I have a set of courses and a learning plan that should not be assigned to the user until they complete their initial learning plan. I would like a way to set up a rule so the first course is either automatically assigned upon completion of the initial LP, or we can set up the enrollment but it is not available until completion of the initial LP. Has any progress been made in this area?
