Scorm scoring issues

Hello all,

Since early August we have had users reporting scoring issues within scorm modules . . . recently it has become an every day, multiple users a day issue and the they are getting increasingly frustrated. They complete the scorm and pass the included assessment, but it scores them with a zero. Many of them take the module multiple times before they report it so it can be marked complete for them.

I have a ticket open with Docebo (who says the issue is within the scorm itself, but nothing has changed) and I have reported it to our scorm developer but there is no solution yet from either. Docebo says it is the scorm, and the scorm developer has said they “heard there were scoring issues since Chrome did an update.”

The users ARE completing the module before exiting, and are on both Chrome and Edge so no pattern there. We have several of our customers who will be launching their annual education soon and many rely very heavily on the scorm content.  Any ideas here of what else I can check on my end?

Hi @melissa.herndon - a thought is to give your courses a try in SCORM cloud to see if you can reproduce what is happening. If more people are encountering it, it should in theory become easier to reproduce.

Here is a reality that is hard - but it is a small window that I have lived with for sometime. You can have a course left open by the person and have Docebo go out of session. When the SCORM attempts to submit? It literally leaves no evidence and from the CMI interactions, it can look like it paused instead of doing a submit (and sometimes even look like gibberish). The only evidence is the overly long session time that is recorded by the course itself and a fail on the last interaction.

Here is the harder one - depending on how that course is wired? Sometimes it will just take the person to reopen the course for the SCORM course to resubmit and the score will be recorded. Other times, they will need to retake. By best practice - we often tell people to be prepared and try to complete these types of assessments in a single sitting.

Docebo also supports extending the session that can help to calm down these types of situations, but it that isnt perfect by a long run.

I find myself wanting to apologize as this may sound more anecdotal than not. SCORM cloud helps with testing upfront and isolate what is going on.

Another thought. How do you have scoring set up on your course? Do you have the right SCORM file granting completion credit? If you’ve got multiple SCORM files and you’re not pointing to the right one, that can cause difficulties.
