Notifications for playlists

Hi folks!

Within our platform we have many users that create playlists for their managers or other team members. Some people are getting notifications while others are not and it is creating a hiccup in the user experience. Note that all those that are creating and sharing these playlists, have the same permissions and notifications are also set up the same. Has anyone run into this issue or maybe I have the notifications set up wrong. Can anyone share how they have their notifications set up for this specifically? Thanks!

Hi @lkline ,

If permissions are truly identical across your users, let's walk through exactly how this specific notification should be configured to ensure nothing is being blocked at the system or user level.

Here is the exact setup you should verify:

1. The Global Notification Configuration Go to Admin Menu > Notifications and locate the event specifically called "User invited to watch an asset or a playlist" (found under the Discover, Coach & Share category).

  • Delivery Channel: Under the Properties > Composition tab, ensure both Email and Platform (in-app) are checked and that the message body is properly configured.

  • Triggers & Filters: Check the Triggers and filters tab. If this is restricted to specific branches or groups, users attempting to share outside of those criteria won't successfully trigger the notification.

2. Discover, Coach & Share Sharing Permissions Check your DCS advanced settings for sharing. If your platform is set to "Share content with channels only," users can only successfully invite (and notify) peers who already have visibility into that specific channel. If they try to invite someone without channel access, the notification won't send.

3. User-Level Overrides Even if your global admin settings are perfect, Docebo allows users to override them. The users who aren't receiving the emails may have simply clicked their Bell icon > Gear icon and toggled off their personal notification preferences for this specific alert.

The "Guaranteed Delivery" Alternative If you find that native notifications are too easily overridden by user preferences, or if you need to guarantee 100% delivery for a critical workflow, you can bypass the standard notification engine entirely. When I've deployed this for organizations with similar strict requirements, we typically use Docebo Connect. We capture the playlist share event via webhook and use Connect to route a guaranteed direct message via Slack or MS Teams. It bypasses the email inbox entirely and ensures the user sees the playlist.

You can verify the exact setup steps and tab navigation for the native notifications here: Configuring notifications – Docebo Help Center.

Hope this helps you track down the disconnect!
