Getting harder and harder to ignore output from things like this.
At the very least it can inspire lost stakeholders on where to go.

Yeah I can see it being useful for putting together a quick draft or framework...something that would definitely need further attention and edits but would show enough of a “proof of concept” to be further tweaked.
Personally I am not a fan of it but it is everywhere at the moment as you say, so might as well get used to it haha.
I’ve just had a go after seeing the example video of an astronaut living in a black hole (looked amazingly done to be fair) and how quick and easy it seemed to change the content.
Asked for “video of a cat tap-dancing on a hay bale” - I was brought back down to earth quickly after seeing the results lol.
The voice track was pretty good and fairly convincing but no matter what combination of words I tried, I just could NOT get the video to match. Just unrelated clips of random cats, and random clips of haybales. Miles away from how it’s being advertised...I suspect a professional producer was heavily involved in that demo video!
I think these are still a way off before anything serious can be produced with them & there’s the whole issue with dubious legality as well given they are trained on existing user data. Time will tell if they will improve and usage will be more widespread but it seems like the AI bubble is close to bursting as people come to realise that the content created just isn’t very good...
+11I think the answer is just how fast it slaps things together really cannot be ignored.
My example - I asked it to create a video on needle stick safety other than a few total visual misses and the narrator literally hissing at the end (like a ssssssssssssssssssssss - I am not lying) I was intrigued that it took about 50 words and slapped together a first draft in minutes. Oh by the way? I did this on the phone app….
I cant beat that.
I think we are getting to a point where we can rely on these first drafts better with maybe a light edit with a certain type of customer. Specifically for the customer that comes to the table with their own objectives of “I dont know what I want, but I need something on this broad topic….and I need you to do it” - the lost stakeholder as coined above - which can be overwhelming to a junior instructional designer.
