Promotion of New Assets and Courses

We currently use our platform for our internal team as well as for our external customers. I would love to hear any ideas you have on how to promote the NEW items that are being added into your platform. I read someone using a “What’s New” widget on the homepage of their appropriate audiences that points to a channel that you can tag new items to, and then audit it once a month to take older assets out of that channel. I would love other ideas if you have any! Screenshots or examples would be super helpful if you have a process that works well.

Thanks!

Hi Kimberly,

Before building out a manual process for a "What's New" channel, I like to ask: how much of your audience actually logs into the platform proactively just to browse?

Often, we build great homepage widgets only to realize the target audience isn't logging in to see them. When I've deployed this for organizations with similar dual-audience requirements, we typically drop the manual auditing and split the strategy into a tailored "Pull" and an automated "Push."

1. The "Netflix" Approach (Pull) Instead of a generic widget for everyone, you can configure your custom widget pages so that each user only sees what is relevant to them. By assigning different pages, catalogs and menus to different groups or branches, you can use a Catalog Widget on their homepage set to automatically sort by "Enrollment date (newest to oldest)".

When a user logs in, they automatically see a dynamic feed of the newest content relevant specifically to them, much like Netflix. It requires zero manual updates. You can review how to target these pages in the Making pages and menus visible to users article.

2. Automated Delivery (Push) For audiences that need a nudge, the updates should go to where they already work.

  • For External Customers: You can use the native Newsletter feature to send automated, segmented monthly digests directly to their email based on their branch. (See the Creating and sending newsletters documentation).

  • For Internal Teams: You might leverage the Notifications app to push updates directly to their email or via the Docebo for Slack/Teams integrations when new relevant courses are published.

Combining a tailored, dynamic homepage with an automated push strategy is usually the most sustainable way to keep both audiences engaged without creating monthly admin work for yourself.

Hope this helps!
