How Will External Training Fit into the New Certifications Model?

We currently use certifications to manage compliance-type training requirements where not all training is completed directly in Docebo. Will the new Certifications & Retraining framework support external training as part of a certification path or recertification process?
I'd love to understand how organizations that rely on both LMS training and externally completed training should be thinking about the new model.

      During the public beta, and after the general availability of the new Certifications & Retraining workflow, external training will remain supported in the legacy certifications flow only. Support for external training in the new Certifications & Retraining flow is not planned for GA, but we will evaluate it as part of the migration requirements from legacy certifications to the new flow.

Jumping in here to say that the ability to award certifications based on external training is also key functionality that we use with the legacy setup. I hope this functionality can be added to the new setup before the legacy is retired (or sooner).

      It’s important for us to track outside training and qualifications that are not suited to track via eLearning or ILT courses. We use Docebo internally for our employees, but for some training, they receive credentials from outside vendors. This is not suitable to track via ILT, since we don’t manage scheduling for external trainings. A bit more below about our use case:

      • We do not allow learners to upload external training themselves. Instead, managers send us records to input and connect to certifications. 
      • When we create external training records, we connect them to 2 types of certifications:
        • Certifications that can also be awarded via learning plan or courses OR
        • Certifications that are not connected to any learning plans or courses

It would be tough for us to lose this functionality and the flexibility that it offers us.
