Data skewing in report function

Hi,

We're currently trying to gain a clearer understanding of colleague engagement with professional development and learning activities. However, we're finding that our reporting is limited because we can only filter data at a department level.

This creates challenges for us as many departments contain multiple sub-teams of varying sizes. As a result, engagement figures can become misleading when viewed solely at department level.

For example, our People Services department has 11 colleagues, whereas our IS department has approximately 60 colleagues. If four colleagues from each department participate in learning and development activities, the overall participation numbers are identical. However, when viewed as a percentage, People Services appears to have 36% engagement compared to just 6% in IS. This can create the impression that one department is significantly more engaged than another, when in reality the same number of colleagues have participated.

To gain more meaningful insights, we would like to analyse engagement at a more granular level. We use People First as our HR and payroll system, where reporting can be segmented by cost centre. If a similar approach is available within the LMS, it would allow us to report on smaller colleague groups and provide a much more accurate representation of engagement across the business.

Could you advise whether it is possible to filter or report by cost centre within the LMS? I've explored the Custom Reports functionality, but cost centre does not appear to be available as a filter option.

Any guidance on how this could be achieved, or alternative approaches you would recommend, would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

If your cost center is passed into a custom filed for each user, then you should be able to have the system maintain automated groups based on that which could be used in reports.
