User Summary Including External Training

I’m a little perplexed by how external training is handled in reporting.

A basic User Summary includes the courses a user is enrolled in or has completed, but external training doesn’t appear to be included. As far as I can tell, I have to look up each individual user to see their external training records.

Is there a way to include External Training in a User Summary or another report so I can see all of a user’s training history in one place?

The only workaround I’ve found is to upload the external training record and then enroll the user in a similar course in Docebo and manually mark it as completed. That way, when I pull a report, I can see that the user has completed that specific training.

This works, but it creates duplicate work and somewhat defeats the purpose of using the External Training feature.

There has to be an easier way to report on this. Has anyone found one?

You shouldn’t need to create a duplicate internal course for this. Your User Personal Summary should include an External training tab, separate from the Courses tab, when the External Training app is enabled: Generating a User personal summary report.

For a report covering multiple users, go to Custom reports and use the Users - External Training report type and build it up

That keeps the record in External Training and avoids enrolling users in duplicate courses. If the report type isn’t available, check that the External Training app is enabled and that your role has the required External training and Reports permissions.
