Hi @Abdullah Mohammad

Just to clarify, almost all of our power users are set up with "All courses and learning plans in visible catalogs" permissions, along with view and edit access. However, there are cases where a power user creates a course for testing purposes and does not immediately assign it to a catalog.

With this change, what will happen to existing courses that are not currently assigned to a catalog once the November 16 update takes effect? Will those courses remain visible to their creators or will visibility be lost if the course is not associated with a catalog they can access?

Looking ahead, since we typically grant visibility through catalogs, should we be encouraging our power users to consistently assign newly created courses to a catalog, even if it's just a staging or testing catalog?

Existing courses:
Power Users will retain access to courses they created that remain assigned to them. They will lose creator-only access to courses that have been removed from their assignments.

Going forward: When a Power User creates a course, it is automatically assigned to them. However, if they have the “All courses and learning plans in visible catalogs” wildcard, the course needs to be added to a catalog they can see as a learner. Otherwise, they may lose access when their assignments are recalculated.

As a best practice for this setup, keep courses in the relevant visible catalogs. If the wildcard assignment changes, check that those courses are still covered by the new settings.

We also have an enhancement on the roadmap that will allow admins to assign individual courses while keeping wildcard assignments in place.
