Maybe yawl know this already - report naming conventions to avoid
Maybe someone will learn from this travel. For the first time, I got an error back that a file may be corrupt and was going to be repaired from a Docebo custom report. I paused to consider what I was doing differently. The only thing that I could think of is the “/” made Excel uphappy.“IT - Jira and MS Exchange / Teams Training”Was truncated to _Teams_Training in the .zip file. The lesson? Maybe? Don’t use “/” in your naming convention with reports. Are there other special characters we should be avoiding? When should we be avoiding them? With what operation???
Anyone have experience with using murf.ai to create audio dubs from srt subtitles?
I’m ending up with dub tracks that are 25% too long in terms of time. Seems to be a platform or workflow (user error) issue, since even if I set my dubbing voice speed to 3x, I still end up with dub tracks 25% too long in seconds. Other than that, it’s amazing!
Best practice for Rise 360 Course Export (SCORM or xAPI)
Forgive me if this has been asked already, but while I’ve seen several posts talking about tracking issues with Rise 360 courses, I’ve not found one that details best practices for export.Apart from knowing xAPI is a newer standard than SCORM, I’m far from an expert at the pros/cons of each format, and even less of an expert with each version. In my testing, while I’ve read Docebo can have trouble indexing xAPI for its global search, I’ve personally not found the SCORM content indexes particularly well for me either. In that way, what is the recommended format for Rise 360 courses published to Docebo? SCORM or xAPI?If SCORM, what version & edition works best/is recommended? Thanks for any insights you’re able to offer.
Writing Learning Objectives
Part of the Design of Learning is knowing the endgame. In other words - what do we need the learner to know after the training is complete? This often appears in the form of a learning objective. How do you come up with a learning objective?Consider these two examples.Caring For Your New PuppyLearning Objectives:Understand how to care for a puppy. Caring For Your New PuppyLearning Objectives:Given a puppy and several common scenarios, teenagers will correctly choose the best care response 90% of the time.In the first example, I think it is fair to say we want our learners in this course to understand how to do that but how do you measure that? Do they truly understand or did they simply regurgitate some content? Is a quiz good enough? Have you seen these kinds of objectives before? In the second example, you can get a better sense of how that measurement will take place. A learning objective such as this one will not only help the learner know what is expected but I would argue that it wi
Widget box sizes on pages
I’m working on creating a prototype page for a client...similar to this. (Their design they would like) I’m getting closer and closer (please be kind...still a work in progress), however I don’t like the way some of the widget especially the WYSIWYG widget as I’m placing images and then linking to various areas (channels, learning plans, catalogs). I could be just over complicating but how to not have soo much white space and boxy look. Stepping out of my comfort zone and getting more familiar with what more Docebo can do.
New Reports versus Original Reports
Is it just me or is the New Reports framework much worse than the original old reports framework? In New Reports in order to get real time updated data you have to refresh the data then wait for up to two hours. In New Reports if you want to export data, after refreshing and waiting in step one above, you then have to wait longer for an email to arrive. Once that email arrives it then makes you click on a link to go back to the platform to download the report. The report then is a compressed file regardless of what size the actual file is. In New Reports, there really aren’t any “new reports” per se. Ok yes maybe a couple but hardly what I would call new over the old. What was the intended upgrade or incentive to transition for old reports to new reports? Please don’t tell me that it’s all about having the ability to do custom column sorting or the addition of maybe a couple new filters. In my opinion, the reporting capabilities are lacking tremendously in the platform. And the New Rep
Linking Pages to Other Pages
Hi!I am wondering if there is a way to have a link on one page that leads to another page?If that doesn’t work is there a way to add a tab at the top of the page area that would lead to another page? Like where the arrow is in this image… Any help anyone has would be awesome! Thanks!
What is Your Approach to Training Design?
I guess I would say that I have always been a fan of a Backwards Design approach. The process essentially goes like this - Start with the end in mind. What is the desired objective of the training? (Need to Know) How does the learner show they have met the objective? (Assessment) What experiences does the learner need to best prepare them? (Content)So once I know what it is that the learner needs to know, (1) it is time to identify what sort of proof that the learner can provide which will serve as acceptable evidence that they have gotten what they need to know. In many online cases, it is a quiz but is that the best form of evidence? I have some courses where I ask the learner to submit a video of themselves performing a variety of tasks while explaining the process, submit photographs of themselves holding things they have created, or perhaps upload to me a configuration file of sorts. (2)In my training - I sometimes offer two “tracks”.The first track is to simply consume the material
If you have a moment | a professional talk on standing up a centralized learning group
I was invited to talk about our travels with getting our learning system going and where we are aiming towards. An open note - this is going to be less of a Docebo-centric discussion and more concentrating on best practices, establishing models, and how to get a centraized learning function going at an organization in a bigger way when you have a blank slate to work with.If you are curious, stop by for an hour. For those that heard me at an eSkillz talk earlier this year, aspects are going to be replayed - because I can only change the story so much. The talk takes a moment and connects the use of Go1 content in the mix of standing up curriculums for people leaders and individual contributors.https://lnkd.in/eX53uQ7G
Adding a new course to a Learning Plan | The Impact - the discussion continues
Evening,There was a thread that started to answer a question, and it actually helps me to understand how to handle “severe” structural changes for a SCORM course when I should consider hiding and showing training material related to a course.@lrnlab described a model where he hides the older training material and adds a brand new training material to the system - thus preserving the older completion data...this is neat and will definitely serve its purpose to help us manage learning objects moving forward.BUT I am curious - we were thinking of leveraging a learning plan that we slowly add courses to it so that we trickle a curriculum. Admittedly, the content is actually not ready for the courses as of yet, the roadmap for said courses is in good shape (pretty much)….so in theory we can lock up course shells until it is available. That said - has anyone slowly added courses to Learning Plans overtime? What was the implication to the Learning Plan? Did it change back to in process when a
Most used browsers July 2022 - a graph and open conversation
This image comes from one of the many marketing companies that monitor browser usage across the internet. Where I love that we are here? For folks that made strides in the industry in the 2010’s? We took a beating to get here. Here are some plain facts about this - but would love to hear you add any thoughts.- Chrome used to be called a consumer browser. Some may still say that. But two out of the three most popular used browsers are based on Chromium today.- Safari is still based on WebKit…and is popular because of the Apple brand and those millions of iPhones that are out there.- At least in my industry folks are still consuming eLearning today more at their desktops with a little less that 6% consuming from their phones.- The death of Adobe flash left scars on many in our industry with a full EOL in late 2020 (honestly browsers were moving us earlier away from supporting flash based eLearning).. But it has been a breath of fresh air to be working with HTML 5 as a ubiquitous format fo
Need a hand - please vote up - the modal popup idea
Most folks are doing calls to action on their own pages using widgets - but modal popup windows can be extremely helpful for all sorts of experiences. So I started an idea.Just making sure everyone knows what I mean? A modal popup or box is an overlay experience in an application in the shape of a window. In the older application days (and it is still used honestly) a web developer would make a whole new window. Because of more modern design and CSS, we can make a div give a similar experience. If you think a picture is worth a thousand words, take a spin over to https://www.w3schools.com/howto/howto_css_modals.asp and press the Open Modal button. Or just take a peek here...We so need something like this that we can control….Many times we have applications that can dismiss those modal windows after a user clicks an ok button….and not stress the user experience for return customers. Other ones force the popup to be persistent (as in it would be something that you cannot dismiss).Wouldn’
Dynamic New Hire Page
I recently watched “Road to Inspire | Building a tailored learning experience” on Docebo University and liked the idea of creating a “dynamic” new hire page where the steps progressed with the user. The way it was explained in the video is:Step 1:Create Group 1: User is new and has not completed anything (indicate using a field on the user detail record) Created Page 1: Page is setup showing the user has not completed any of the steps (indicated with an image that is shown in gray). Page displays for Group 1 only.Step 2:Create Group 2: User has completed necessary courses (indicated by saying course is completed in Group workflow) Created Page 2: Second page is setup showing the user has completed first phase of courses (indicated with an image that is shown in gray, but phase/step one is now in color). Page displays for Group 2 only.Step 3:Repeat for all necessary steps in new hire process. Here is my question:We have been experiencing a long delay (a few hours to a day) for a user to
NEW Community Roundtable on June 17th
Docebo Community, go ahead and block your calendars and let’s get together! Friday, June 17, 202210:30 am to 12:00 pm ET@dklinger and I would like to facilitate a community roundtable with a focus on sharing ideas in the Community and voting them up. Do you have an idea you’ve added that could use some more love? Bring it! Have you seen someone else’s idea that you loved and want to express that love in the form of getting others to upvote it? Bring it! Do you have an new idea that no one else has submitted. Guess what. I want you to go submit that idea and then bring it! This event is for anyone able to attend, and the concept is simple: Quickly, share an idea from the community for an audience of participants that can go in right then and help upvote an idea. The only thing we need is you and your ideas. The more of you that attend, then more ideas to share, then more voters to vote, then the louder the customer voice, and more opportunities for more improvements that benefit the ma
Adding text to the login page
I need to add verbiage above the username and password to say ‘All Internal Employees, please click the SAML SSO button to login to your training. All external users to Panasonic please enter your username and password. ’… Or something link that. I can’t find any language or guide to show where to put this to add this type of text. Thanks
Best Practices for Proactive System Management
As a system administrator, I often get bogged down in responding to issues instead of taking a more proactive approach for preventing problems, but I want to change that. What are some of your suggestions for best practices around ongoing system maintenance? Here are a few that I thought of:Ensure that data feeds are running smoothly. Review error logs and work with appropriate parties to resolve issues. Follow up on outstanding tickets. Regularly review user information for the following: Missing data Duplicate user profiles Admin Accounts – Review admin accounts to confirm that admin level access is still warranted. Power Users – Review power user access to ensure that permissions are appropriate for the User’s role.
Selling subscription to the LMS
I would like to know if anyone is selling subscription “access” to their LMS platform. I know Docebo can be set up to sell courses and catalogs but we want to actually sell an annual subscription to the platform itself and all the content within. We have courses but our real value is in our content - hundreds of resources to be used by teachers in the classroom. Most users come for the content, not necessarily the courses. Here’s a little more background. Our users are school districts and afterschool providers that use our content to learn about SEL and how to implement it in their classroom or program, and get tools and resources to use with kids. Currently we use a “direct sales” model and new users are added/imported manually with their expiration date. The annual subscription/renewal is all handled outside the system manually. We’d like to implement a SaaS- like subscription model where we sell various levels of access for an annual subscription fee - like organization access (wit
Workaround for the depreciated Web Conference Widget?
I am playing around with how an onboarding plan is set up, and one of the features of a proposed onboarding plan is to have live events scheduled to supplement the e-learning content that is being delivered. My first thought went to the Web Conferencing widget, but I realized it was depreciated, or being depreciated, so we can no longer use it. I know that the VILT course type is set up to support all training material types, but the problem with the layout of the VILT is that it puts the emphasis on the live session (which in most situations, that should be the case). In our use case, we want to put the emphasis on the e-learning materials and have the sessions secondary to the content because the users are not required to attend a specific session. So my question to you all is, were you using the web conference widget and have you done some sort of work around for this? Also, if you weren’t using the widget, and have some ideas, please feel free to post below!
Have you heard? A community roundtable
Hello good peeps. We still have more seats available for the community roundtable event. Seems like we are below a true community quorum? We would be happy if we could get 20 to 25 of yawl to show up. As my daughter says that would be “truly awesome sauce”.A link to the details of the event can be found here:
Is there a way to do any special effects when a user completes a course, beyond a notification?
On our current custom LMS we have confetti fall from the top of the browser window when a user completes a course. I’ve experienced it myself and its surprisingly motivating and fun! Is there any way to do something like this in Docebo?
Still haven't found what you're looking for?
